Some new fashion-inspired pieces to up my skill level. At the moment I’m obsessed with combining commercial fashion illustration techniques in photoshop with my hand illustration and floral textures. I feel it’s very important to keep the linework intact as this is what makes my work original, and different from everyone else’s. The clothes certainly pop, and for a commercial fashion illustration, I believe it’s very important to showcase the garments!
Here’s a little brand offshoot I brainstormed while in Tokyo and completed here in Melbourne:
Keep your eye out for Tokyo(Shy)Boy merchandise I will be selling via Red Bubble in the near future!
Also coming soon – Christmas cards! (Don’t forget to purchase a print for a loved one for Christmas!)
This last week I was fortunate to have been included in the Women’s Photography Exhibition, which took place at the Design Festa Gallery in Harajuku, Japan. Check out the Gallery website.
They also coordinate the Design Festa event, a kind of gigantic trade show/exhibition, which offers live art and music, fashion runways, illustration, figurines, painting, sculpture and any other kind of creative expression you can think of.
I have both exhibited and attended as a patron before, and it is such a stimulating and inspiring (as well as overwhelming!) event. It occurs biannually, and is held at Tokyo Big Sight. Visit the Design Festa Event website.
Hopefully you can see me exhibit there again in the future!
Recently Japan’s No.1 English-language magazine Metropolis held a cover contest for it’s 1000th issue.
There were some fantastic entrants (and I even had a go myself, as you can see above).
Check out the winner and other entries here: http://metropolis.co.jp/features/upfront2/upfront-extra/cover-contest/

Here is the first in a series of skateboard designs I’m working on. Hopefully you will see them available for sale in the future!
